Garden pavings are a subtle yet powerful element in presenting a garden with characteristic. The Kilby Garden is a perfect example manifesting the appropriate choice and use of pavings could affect the texture, thus the vibe of a garden. The mix use of limestone and bluestone creates unique and intriguing pattern, building foundation to the garden high-class style design. The profound thought in selection of pavings and material continues through out the whole project, leading to a fascinating and immersive garden design.
Outermost of the garden is the modern ‘blade-style’ design steelwork fence, powder coated in Dulux ‘Domino’ colour and modern french design pillars that matches with the detailing of the house façade on a ‘ASHLAR’ silver travertine paving base. After the travertine landing, we are greeted with an elongated Bluestone cobble-tiled walkway with warm travertine frame tiling. The designated mix using of pavings create changes in the journey of accessing the architecture. You are welcomed by the entrance Chinese Star Jasemine, and then entering the gate alongside with two strips of rose. Kilby Garden intents to provide a sense of elegance through the diversified pavings and plantations.
Along the side of the walkway is the Trailiing Rosemary and Slender Weavers bamboo, both subtle yet greenish to welcome you to the backyard, where you feel coziness.
At the back of the architecture, you will first step into a walkway paved with silver travertine stone, matching with the front garden. Different from the tight french paving in the front, the backyard walkway is paved with selected rocks and pebbles. The limply packed stone creates a gentler and more natural pattern, giving a more cozy and relaxing feel of this back garden. Adjacent to this travertine pave walkway is the outdoor timber deck. The greyish brown timber selected matches with the other stone pavings, functionally and visually adding value to the garden calming essence.
Standing at the back of the leveled lawn is a timber pergola with bench seating, built on top of the silver travertine paving foundation. Climbing rose is climbing on the timber beams and columns, leading to a elegant visual focus at the back garden, providing a relaxing sitting out place as well. Rows of Saucer Magnolia and Nandina doestica ‘Moon Bay’ are planted to softly borders the lawn, creating privacy.
Nightime garden lightings are also contributing to the coziness of the garden. Warm led lights are used to tenderly light up the garden space. Shadows casted create depth to the paving areas, and further enhancing the visual aesthetic of the focal points of the garden, the paved walkway, the pergola and the plantations.
